The 10,793,250 Self-portrait

Andy Warhol's iconic Self-Portrait was the star of Christie's Evening Auction of Post-War & Contemporary Art (February 16, London).
The 1967 painting, an acrylic and silkscreen ink on canvas, measuring 182.9 x 182.9, sold for 10,793,25 GBP - more than double its high estimate (est. 3 - 5 million).
The work had not been seen on the market since its acquisition from Warhol's primary gallerist Leo Castelli in 1974.
