Tzeli Hadjidimitriou
Tzeli Hadjidimitriou was born in Mytilene, Lesvos in 1962. She held a degree in Economics from
the University of Thessaloniki (1980-1986) and pursued further studies in the field of Direction
of Photography for the Cinema, in Rome (1986-1988). In 1985 she attended a series of semi-
nars on the art of cinematography taught by Michelangelo Antonioni after receiving a scholarship
from the Catholic University (Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore) in Milano and from the Italian
Cultural Institute (Istituto Italiano di Cultura) in Thessaloniki. She also holds a superior diploma
as an official translator of the Italian Language (Greek-Italian) from the certified institute Casa d’
Italia and a certificate in video-montage, after attending a vocational training seminar offered by
the Greek Ministry of Culture.
She has worked in television for ten years and also in the cinema industry as stage photographer,
collaborating with many film and photography directors.
Although she is mostly described by the critics as a “landscape photographer” her "lenses" have
extensively focused on many art works, interiors and archaeological subjects.
She regularly contributes to several newspapers and magazines (Geotropio-Eleftherotypia, Hellini-
ko Panorama, Elle, National Geographic – Greece, Voyager, Greek-Italian Chamber of Commerse,
e.t.c ), as a writer and photographer. Her last work is a complete travel guide on Lesvos Island,
published by Road Editions, of which she has been the sole author and photographer.
