Alexandra Kollaros
Alexandra Kollaros was born in Athens, Greece. She studied Art & Design at the City & Guilds of
London Art School, Illustration at St. Martin’s School of Art in London and Fashion & Textile De-
sign at Artemode Scuola in Florence. She has worked as a freelance designer in the UK and Italy
before returning to Greece to set up AKD design studio, specializing in textiles, product and furni-
ture design and design consulting.
Since 1998 she is focusing in the field of event planning and curating, specializing in the area of
art and design shows and happenings, working with Greek and international designers and artists,
for private companies, art galleries and foundations as well as public institutions. She is also
founder and participating artist of “Girl Power” –the art/charity campaign operating since 2001 in
association with the Hellenic Cancer Society and under the auspices of the Municipality of Athens,
focused on aiding the battle against breast cancer, using art as its means.
Her work has featured in magazines, newspapers, TV programs, movies & theatrical plays and
can be found in galleries, exhibition spaces and shops in Greece and other places throughout the
world.
Her design oriented background is evident in her art pieces. Her references include the combi-
nation of the austere with the highly decorative, while bold colors and contrasts remain a constant
favorite.
She is influenced by life in the contemporary urban environment and the elusive element of the
fun and the fantastic.
Her work can be found in private collections in Greece and abroad and also at the collection of
The American College of Greece – ACG Art.
